Railfest in Hamburg features demonstrations and exhibits

The Reading Railroad Heritage Museum invites everyone to “Railfest 2018: Hauling Black Diamonds on the Reading Railroad” on Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, June 10, from noon to 5 p.m.

The festival will feature demonstrations and exhibits about coal transportation on the Reading Railroad, displays of special historic Reading Railroad cars open only during Railfest, operating model train displays, the best country and railroad music, food, vendors, activities and Munchkin Railway rides for children, a unique truck show featuring coal-delivery trucks, and more.

New exhibit at Clay on Main: "Working Surface"

Clay on Main will showcase works by local artists in a new exhibit, “Working Surface: Indulging in Appearances,” open now through June 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. In the 10 years since Clay on Main’s inception, many artists have shown work in the community art center’s three-room gallery. These artists have become friends and supporters of Clay on Main’s mission, and have worked closely with the studio to exhibit their perfect show.

Conestoga Church hosts program on Lazarus Project fighting opioid crisis

People gathered at the Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main Street in Morgantown, May 14, at 7 p.m. to learn about the Lazarus Project, a Lancaster County project fighting the national crisis of overdose deaths from opioids.

Opioids are a class of drugs that include medications: oxycodone, hydrocodone and methadone, commonly prescribed to treat pain.
