Grange presents Community Citizen Award to Andy Schlegel for community service

Kutztown Grange presented Andy Schlegel, Kutztown, with the 2018 Community Citizen Award, recognizing Schlegel for his contributions to the Kutztown community during its annual Community Night on April 12.

“We pick somebody who has done things for the community and it’s a surprise,” said Kutztown Grange Master Kenneth Dietrich.

Woman falls to her death at abandoned quarry

UNION TWP. >> A woman fell to her death from a cliff after plunging more than 300 feet into water at an abandoned quarry.

The accident happened late Saturday afternoon at the Dyers Quarry near Route 345.

State police from Reading were dispatched around 5:45 p.m. for an unresponsive female lying face down in the water.
