Safe Berks 'The Pictures of my Voice' Exhibit celebrates survival, healing, courage and self-expression

Safe Berks recently celebrated the opening of “Los Retratos de mi Voz” (The Pictures of my Voice), a Photo Voice Project, at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, in the Main Lobby. This photo collection will be on display in the GoggleWorks through April 28. This exhibit is offered during April, in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Hamburg Salvation Army Family Store celebrates 1st Birthday Party with music and cake

The Hamburg Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center will celebrate its 1st Birthday Party at the store, located at 700 South 4th Street, Hamburg, on Saturday, April 21, between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Two years ago when we first envisioned opening the Store, we couldn’t have imaged all of the impact it has had on the community and people’s lives in just a year and a half,” said Becky Netznik, Service Extension Unit, Regional Manager.

Reading Symphony hosts inaugural celebratory event

The Reading Symphony Orchestra will host an inaugural celebratory event on Sunday, May 6, at 5:00 p.m. at the Neag Planetarium at the Reading Public Museum. Titled “Desserts – Harmony in Red” (after the famous Matisse painting), the event will honor Berks County philanthropists Sandy Solmon and Doug Messinger.

Killer of a musical comedy 'Heathers' opens at Genesius

Genesius Theatre presents “Heathers The Musical” which opens Friday, April 27, and runs through May 6 at Genesius Theatre, 153 N. 10th St., Reading. Book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe.

“Heathers” is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers.

Fleetwood Community Theater presents 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'

Fleetwood Community Theater is presenting the Spring Show “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Ken Kesey and Dale Wasserman and produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc. The show will be held at 5 Arch St., Fleetwood, April 20, 21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 2:30 p.m.

The 14-member cast is directed by Kenneth Dreistadt, who has been in various other positions with Fleetwood Community Theater.

Katelyn Poe named to Budding Artist Program

Dancing Tree Creations Artisans Gallery and Studio, 22 S. Reading Ave., Boyertown, is proud to name Katelyn Poe as its next Budding Artist.

An opening reception, with light refreshments and the opportunity to meet other local artists, will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kutztown dedicates new stadium May 6, day opens with Running of the Cougars 5K

Kutztown Area School District dedicates its new stadium on Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m.

Prior to the grand opening, the Kutztown Class of 2021 will host the fourth annual “Running of the Cougars” 5K and Fun Walk. The race will begin at noon, with prizes awarded in multiple categories.

The stadium grand opening will include the dedication of the stadium and track, thank you to all donors, and the presentation of the Cougar Pride Capital Campaign proceeds by the KASD Education Foundation.

Hamburg Borough Police: Drug Take Back Day battles opioid crisis

Hamburg Borough Police will be hosting and participating with the DEA in National Drug Take Back Day.

On April 28 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Redner’s in Hamburg, Hawkridge Drive Shopping Center. Police remind residents that a local drop box is located at the Hamburg Borough Hall which is available all weekdays during business hours 8 a.

Boyertown's annual 'Coming Out of Hibernation' event April 21

On April 21, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., celebrate spring within downtown Boyertown. East Philadelphia Avenue will be closed between Chestnut and Washington streets to traffic. Walk our historic downtown, and enjoy artisanal crafters, open air food vendors, community organizations, moon bounce, games, activities and much more!

Building A Better Boyertown hosts a series of community events on the third Saturday of the month.
