BARTA transit development plan getting 3rd round of public meetings

The organization that oversees BARTA transit services in Berks County will hold a third round of meetings to update the community on the progress of its transit development plan.

These meetings being held before completion of the plan focus on informing the public of the consultant’s final draft recommendations to South Central Transit Authority. The recommendations are based on a comprehensive analysis of existing services, feedback received from riders and nonriders from previous rounds of public outreach and comments and survey results on service scenarios presented over the summer.

The in-person meeting will be held Dec. 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the DoubleTree By Hilton hotel’s Callowhill Ballroom. The hotel is at 701 Penn St.

Following a short presentation, the balance of the session will be devoted to discussion and questions.

The virtual option is set to be held Dec. 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is required at bit.ly/TDP23BARTAZoom

Both meetings will present the same information.

The goal of the plan is to help determine service priorities in the coming years. The plan includes evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of BARTA transit services and identifying opportunities for service improvements and expansion.
