Berks Ballet Theatre (BBT) is proud to announce its inaugural ChoreographyLAB, a performance featuring brand-new, original choreography from classical to contemporary dance. The initiative provides young area dancers with the opportunity to step into the role of choreographer while also enriching the company’s repertoire.

Berks County audiences have come to expect classical works by the organization including The Nutcracker and last season’s La Fille Mal Gardee, and the organization is now venturing into new territory with innovative dance pieces that reflect a diverse range of styles and artistic visions.

ChoreographyLAB aims to help young dance makers nurture their choreographic voices while offering structured support, mentorship, and a platform for emerging artists to explore movement in new ways.

“This program is about more than just creating steps—it’s about learning to craft a story, develop artistry, and understand the process of building a piece from the ground up,” said Artistic Director Nathan Bland. “It’s an incredible opportunity for young artists to expand their skills and share their perspectives with an audience.”

The ChoreographyLAB performance will offer audiences a chance to witness fresh, innovative dance pieces crafted by the next generation of choreographers. Attendees can expect seven original pieces of choreography, the majority of which are created by company dancers along with Bland, and area choreographer and ChoreographyLAB mentor, Bria Walton. The event will feature an inspiring and thought-provoking afternoon of dance.

ChoreographyLAB takes place on Saturday, Feb. 15, starting at 2 p.m., at the Miller Center for the Arts, 4 N. Second St., Reading.
