Berks Catholic is the top seed in the BCIAA boys basketball tournament and could only meet defending champion Wilson in the finals.
The Saints, 17-4 overall and Division 1 winners with a 10-2 record, start their title quest on Monday in the quarterfinals at home at 7 p.m. against eighth-seeded Antietam, 13-8 overall and Division 4 winners with a 9-3 record.
All quarterfinals games are Monday at the site of the higher seed.
Wilson, 17-5 overall and runner-up in Division 2 with an 8-4 record, is the second seed and hosts seventh-seeded Schuylkill Valley at 7 p.m. The Panthers were 15-7 overall and 9-2 in the Division 2, finishing second.
On the top half of the bracket, fourth-seeded Reading High hosts Wyomissing at 7 p.m., and on the lower half of the bracket, third-seeded Gov. Mifflin is home against sixth-seeded Exeter at 7 p.m.
The Red Knights finished the regular season 11-11 overall and 7-5 in Division 1, good for fourth fourth place. Wyomissing (15-7) won Division 3 with a 9-2 record.
Gov. Mifflin (15-7 overall) was third in Division 1 with a 7-5 record, and Exeter (12-10) won Division 2 with a 7-4 record.
The semifinals are Wednesday at Santander Arene with the finals on Friday, back at Santander, as part of a girls/boys doubleheader.
Wilson is the defending champion, defeating Reading High 54-53 in last year’s championship game.
The last time Berks Catholic won a BCIAA boys basketball title was 2018.
