The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU)’s Office of Early Childhood and Student Services (ECSS) is hosting a Special Education Parent Resource Fair on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the BCIU Main Office Building, 1111 Commons Blvd., Reading. This free event is open to the public from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Special Education Parent Resource Fair is an event designed to provide parents and caregivers of children and young adults with disabilities access to a wide range of essential resources and support services. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary food trucks from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. A schedule of the informative presentations is listed below. Translators will be present throughout the fair to assist families.
The Resource Fair will host the following sessions:
- 5:30 p.m. | PA Autism ASERT – This presentation will provide a brief overview of the ASERT (Autism Services, Education, Resources, and Training) Collaborative and resources and information about finding autism services and supports in Pennsylvania.
- 6:00 p.m. | Service Access Management (SAM Eligibility) – This presentation will be on the Developmental Disability Eligibility and Intake Process to guide families in obtaining a Supports Coordinator in Berks County. The presenter will also discuss funding and services available once eligible.
- 6:30 p.m. | Early Childhood, Easter Seals Eastern PA – This presentation will provide an overview of early childhood supports offered through Easter Seals.
- 6:30 p.m. | Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR Services for Transition) – This presentation will review the supports available for high school students transitioning from high school to employment or college.
