Berks man sought in rape of 15-year-old in Schuylkill County

State police at Schuylkill Haven are looking for a 34-year-old Berks County man charged with raping a 15-year-old Pottsville girl in Schuylkill County.

Christopher M. Snyder, whose last known address was in the first block of Upper Loop Road in Centre Township, faces nine felony and misdemeanor charges, including rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and furnishing liquor to minors.

Police obtained a warrant for his arrest Wednesday.

According to troopers:

The 15-year-old said the incident occurred at a house party in Wayne Township between 9 p.m. May 7 and 3 a.m. May 8.

Snyder drove the girl and her sister to the party and stopped at a Pottsville convenience store to buy alcohol.

The girl reported consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana. As party guests fell asleep, Snyder began raping her, despite her telling him to stop.

Around 5 a.m., Snyder drove the 15-year-old and her sister back to their home.

Snyder later that day discovered the girl’s age and drove to her home with a contraceptive so she wouldn’t become pregnant. The girl’s mother discovered what happened and reported the incident to Pottsville police on May 10.

On Sept. 6, a completed lab report from a sexual assault evidence collection kit submitted by the 15-year-old identified DNA as belonging to Snyder.

Snyder is described as white, 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing about 230 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The 15-year-old provided police with a Facebook page showing Snyder with facial hair and said that on the night of the alleged assault he was driving a gray sedan.
