BHC’s Self-Guided Landmark Tour Returns

from Berks History Center

Berks History Center (BHC) is excited about the return of its popular annual event, the Road Ramble, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Road Ramble is a self-guided driving tour that introduces attendees to little-known facts about historical sites throughout the county. This year, participants can hop in the car with the whole family and ramble between Birdsboro, Pa. and Geigertown, Pa.

The Fall 2024 route heads off the beaten path and highlights a blend of historic structures, scenic vistas, locations associated with local folklore, and notable sites such as the Beidler House, Nolde Forest Environmental Center, Berks Military History Museum, Mt. Frisby AME Church, Brooke Mansion, and more.

“We are thrilled to invite the community to join us for the Berks History Center’s Annual Road Ramble,” said BHC Executive Director Benjamin Neely. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to come together, explore the rich history of Southern Berks County, and create lasting memories. With each turn, participants will uncover the unique stories and landmarks that make our region so special.”

This year’s event begins at Ridgewood Winery in Birdsboro, Pa., and concludes at Hay Creek Valley Historical Association (Joanna Furnace) in Geigertown, Pa.

Tickets for the Fall 2024 Road Ramble cost $35/car for BHC members and $45/car for non-members and can be purchased online at berkshistory.org. Tickets for the general public go on sale Thursday, Aug. 1.

This event is sponsored by Penske, PALO Magazine, Visions Federal Credit Union, Bulk Chemicals, Muhlenberg Greene Architects, Ltd., Riverfront Federal Credit Union, D&S Elite Construction, Inc., Scoop deVille Ice Cream Parlor, Reading Coffee Company, VA Productions, Pennsylvania’s Americana Region, and Rieck’s Printing.
