Blue Mountain Eagle Foundation recognizes top students

The Blue Mountain Eagle Foundation presented its 24th annual Awards and Recognition Banquet May 17 at the Schuylkill Country Club.

Attended by around 90 student award recipients, families, board members, school district personnel and major sponsors, the event recognized graduating Blue Mountain High School seniors and faculty venture grant recipients from throughout the year.

Graduating seniors received a total of $19,000 in Achievement Awards, and recognition was given to faculty venture grants totaling $14,000. The majority of the Achievement Awards are from endowed funds managed by the foundation. They come from specific gifts from donors in memory or honor of family and friends.

The Eagle Foundation is a private charitable foundation that raises funds for programs, endowments and equipment to enhance the educational experience of all Blue Mountain students and faculty.  Since Its inception the foundation has awarded close to $1.5 million to support innovative faculty projects, capital purchases and student Achievement Awards.

The following 2023 graduates received Endowed Achievement Awards: Anna Laughlin, Charles K. Hill Memorial Award; Madison Green, Pauline Carl Family Memorial Award; Derek Walasavage: Kunsman Award for Excellence in Leadership and Mathematics; Carson Kerstetter, Ravitz Family Award for Outstanding Male Athlete; Hannah Magdeburg, Ravitz Family award for Outstanding Female Athlete; Aspen Weizer: Anna Setlock Memorial Award to the Female Scholar Athlete; Victoria Konkus, Officer Bill Bradley Memorial Award; Adam Morrow, Jonathan Cresswell Memorial Award; Courtney Marks, Sultan F. Khan Memorial Award; Dalton Riegel, Matthew S. Hill Memorial Award-Male; Reese Baldwin, Matthew S. Hill Memorial Award-Female; Leigh-Anne Minnick, Capt. Jason B. Jones Memorial Award; Eva Brauer, Fern Heiser Heritage Award; Jenna Shellhammer, Fern Heiser Compassion Award

The following received General Eagle Foundation Achievement Awards: Sarah Magdeburg, Aspen Weizer, Dylan Sattazahn, Alysa Carestia, Danika Bolinsky, Carson Kerstetter, Paige Bergan, Isabella Frederick, Ella Chuplis, Sophia Lantz, Emily Martinez.

Charcuterie workship

The foundation recently held its fifth annual Philly Keys cabaret show at the Schuylkill Country Club.  The next fundraising event is a Charcuterie Workshop on Oct. 8. This event will be conducted by Cheese Please Charcuterie and will feature Cellar Beast Winery.
