The Daniel Boone Homestead will host a History Hike on Sunday, Oct. 26, starting at 9 a.m., and a Boone Birthday Celebration on Sunday, Nov. 3, from noon to 4 p.m.
History Hike
The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates invite you to join us for our History Hike as we explore the history of the Daniel Boone Homestead and its historic and cultural landscapes. The hike is approximately one and a half miles and is rain or shine. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water. There is no fee for this program. Friendly dogs are welcome to join on the hike and must be kept on a leash at all times. Animals are not permitted in the historic buildings. The program is presented and funded by The Daniel Boone Homestead Associates.
Boone Birthday Celebration
In celebration of Daniel’s 290th birthday, we invite you to the Daniel Boone Homestead for a program featuring guest speaker and Boone biographer Robert Morgan. Plus, enjoy a birthday party with colonial toys and games, crafts, and birthday cake. Boone House tours will also be offered throughout the afternoon. Visitors can stroll through the historic area to view the other historic buildings including the Blacksmith Shop, Homestead Barn, and Smokehouse.
We are thrilled to have Robert Morgan joining us for this celebration. Mr. Morgan taught writing and literature at Cornell University for 51 years, retiring in 2022 as Kappa Alpha Professor of English Emeritus. Boone: A Biography was published in 2007 and became a national bestseller, winner of the Kentucky Book Award, and finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award for Biography. Mr. Morgan’s presentation will take place at 2 p.m. Following the presentation, Mr. Morgan will conduct a book signing in the Visitor Center. A limited number of books will be available for purchase in our Museum Shop.
Admission: Adults $10.00, Seniors (65+) $8.00, and Youth (6-17) $5.00. Children 5 and under and DBHA members are free. Please no pets except service animals, and no smoking.
