From Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County
Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County (BCSS) is pleased to announce that the 2025 recipient of the Director’s Scholarship is Gabrielle Casalenuovo. The BCSS Director’s Scholarship is awarded annually to an individual who will major in the health care field.
The BCSS Director’s Scholarship began in 2022 when the members of the Board of Directors determined that they wanted a portion of the annual Board campaign to support a Berks County student who would be attending a technical school, nursing school, college/university, or graduate studies in the health care field. The student is asked to submit an essay answering one of the following questions: tell us about someone who has made an impact in your life, and how that will influence your career path in health care, or if you could live your life fighting for one cause to serve your community, what would it be, and why.
Gabrielle graduated from Exeter Township Senior High School this year and will attend the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences this fall, majoring in medical imaging – mammography. Her firsthand experiences have influenced and motivated her to want a career in medical imaging. “I looked into medical imaging and diagnostic medical sonography and thought to myself, if these people are helping to save my mom, then I need to be part of this community.”
The BCSS Board of Directors review committee selected Gabrielle Casalenuovo to receive the annual Director’s Scholarship for $500. Congratulations, Gabrielle. We wish you success in your future endeavors.
