Campus notes: April 14, 2024

The following students from Berks County have completed requirements for bachelor of science degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania:

Gavin D. Keegan, Caernarvon Township, management/entrepreneurship and small business; Nhi Y. Hoang, Muhlenberg Township, interior design; Madison E. Ryan, Lower Heidelberg Township, nursing.

Misericordia

Alexis Bialek, Oley, was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society of Education at  Misericordia University, Dallas, Luzerne County.

The Citadel

Eric Becker, Denver, received the Military Order of the Purple Heart Award from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. It is presented to underclass ROTC cadets who have a positive attitude towards ROTC and country, hold a leadership position in the Corps of Cadets, are academically proficient and are active in the community and school affairs. Becker also was initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Bloomsburg

Mia Noland, Birdsboro, a student at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg, was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

University of Scranton

• Andrew E. Gordos, Bern Township, was inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the national honor society for mathematics majors. He is a senior biomathematics major.

• Robert Correas-Rivera, Reading, was inducted into Alpha Delta Sigma, the national honor society that recognizes and encourages scholastic achievement in advertising studies. He is a senior journalism and electronic media major.

Kutztown University

The following area students were honored at the Kutztown University psychology department’s student awards ceremony and honor society induction:

• Mandy Maiers, a junior from Brecknock Township, won the Field Experience Award for her work with children with disabilities. She is completing field internships at NeurAbilities in Allentown. She was indcuted into the Psi Chi psychology honor society

• Michelle Kenstler, a senior from Kempton, received the Psi Chi honor society’s Model Student Award and was inducted into Psi Chi. She won the Best Paper Presentation Award at the 2023 International Organization of Social Science and Behavioral Research Conference in Boston

• Samantha Smith, a senior from Alburtis, received the Research Award along with honors for student leadership and academic achievement.

The following area KU psychology students were inducted into the Psi Chi honor society:

Allison Beaver, Robeson Township; Alyssa Blood, Birdsboro; Sara Hunter, Blandon; Daniel Mahoney and Marrisa Moore, Sinking Spring; Stella Newmoyer, West Reading; Trevor Shelly, Boyertown; Mallory Barndt, Douglassville; Lauren Schikel, Gilbertsville.
