Casey Remolde scored 38 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, to carry the Kutztown women’s basketball team past Lock Haven 62-49 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference quarterfinal Wednesday night at Keystone Arena.
The PSAC East champion Golden Bears (26-5) overcame a 15-8 first-quarter deficit and advanced to the semifinals against Pitt-Johnstown or Gannon Saturday at Kutztown at a time to be announced.
Remolde, a 6-0 junior from Philadelphia, finished one point off the school record set by Amy Wahl, who scored 39 points against Quinnipiac in December 1996.
Remolde made a school-record 14 field goals out of 24 attempts and had six rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and one steal. All the other Kutztown players were a combined 10-for-37 from the field.
After Lock Haven (14-14) cut it to 50-45 midway through the fourth quarter, Remolde scored all 12 points for the Bears the rest of the way.
Abbey Hearn had nine points and nine rebounds for Kutztown. Ahnesa Parker had 16 points and 18 rebounds for Lock Haven.
