Cleanup, fun along river in Reading

Families and individuals from around the area celebrate one of Reading’s great natural resources Saturday during the fourth annual RIVERZILLLA Community Day & Park Cleanup at Riverfront Park.

The event along the Schuylkill River was held by the Reading Public Works Department in collaboration with Schuylkill River Greenways, Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge, 18th Wonder Improvement Association, Take It Outdoors Outfitters and The Alliance for Watershed Education of theDelaware River.

The free event combined environmental stewardship with outdoor fun, encouraging the community to come together to protect and enjoy Reading’s natural resources.

The day began with a morning riverbank cleanup. That was followed by community activities such as free kayaking demonstrations, trailbike loans, watershed education, crafts, food and outdoor games for all ages.
