Connections Work was awarded a state grant to renovate its facility, which will allow the nonprofit to increase efficiency and capacity providing services to those involved in the justice system.
State Sen. Judy Schwank announced last week that Connections Work received $722,852 from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Broadband Development Authority to fund the work.
“Connections Work is a tremendous asset to our community and does an incredible job providing job training and reentry services,” Schwank said in a release. “I’m confident this funding will empower Connections Work to improve upon the outstanding work it’s doing as it continues to help Berks Countians achieve a better tomorrow.”
The grant program is funded by the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund, established under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. A total of $45 million in grant funding was awarded across the state to community anchor institutions and units of local government for projects to construct, acquire or improve facilities that are or will be open to the public.
