Constellation raises $60,000 to benefit Barth Elementary School

POTTSTOWN — A recent golf outing held by Constellation’s Limerick Clean Energy Center raised more than $60,000 to help build a new playground at Barth Elementary School in Pottstown.

“This gift is more than an investment in equipment and infrastructure; it is a powerful statement of belief in the potential of every child,” Barth Elementary Principal Michael Ishler said following the event. “Our school serves a community where many families face economic challenges, and your generosity ensures that our students will have access to a safe, inclusive, and inspiring place to learn, play, and grow.”

More than 250, including golfers and volunteers, participated in the event to benefit the school, which was held on July 25, at Hickory Valley Golf Course in Gilbertsville.

“This playground will not only enhance physical activity and social development, but it will also be a daily reminder to our children that there are people who believe in their future,” Ishler said. “This contribution will have a lasting impact for years to come, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to our students and the community.”

The Limerick Clean Energy Center sits on 600 acres along the Schuylkill River near Pottstown. Its two nuclear reactors can produce up to 2,317 megawatts (MW) of clean, carbon-free energy, enough electricity to power the equivalent of more than 1.7 million homes. It has been part of the Pottstown-area community for decades, providing hundreds of well-paying jobs and millions of dollars in economic support, including around $5.3 million in taxes annually for schools and other public services.

“Giving back to our local community is a top priority at Limerick Clean Energy Center,” Site Vice President Mike Gillin said. “It is just one way we can show our appreciation to the local area and the people who have supported us throughout the years. Without the support of the Pottstown community, we could not be successful.”
