A country Christmas event will be held by Friends of Schuylkill Parks and Recreation on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Sweet Arrow Lake County Park clubhouse. The event is free and open to the public.
Activities including holiday crafts will be conducted by partners including the South Schuylkill Garden Club, Schuylkill County Conservancy, Northern Swatara Creek Watershed Association and Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by sleigh provided by Rodney Updegrave at 2:30. Christmas caroling will be led by Eilia Zerbe and friends. A chocolate chip cookie contest for youth, adults and professional entries will feature cash prizes.
“Porcupine Pat” McKinney will lead a winter hike, and there will be a 12 Days of Christmas scavenger hunt. Boujie Farm Girl will have Highland Calves available for photos. Proceeds from the $5 fee will be donated to the Friends. There will be trinkets for the kids, free hot chocolate and cider by Girl Scout Troop 31135 and free hot dogs roasted on the open fire by Boy Scout Troop 650.
