On Wednesday, March 26, Fleetwood Bank will host an Agricultural Dinner at the Oley Fair Centre, 26 Jefferson St., Oley. The invocation, to be given by Jaclyn Martin, Chaplain of the PA State FFA Officer Team, will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. A hearty, buffet dinner will be fed to nearly 140 local industry professionals, including FFA students and advisors from six chapters throughout Berks County.

Though this is not the Bank’s first time holding an event of this kind, the speakers and attendees are noteworthy thanks to Kevin D. Bieber, Commercial Lender and Relationship Manager at Fleetwood Bank. Having been heavily involved as a Board Member of the PA State Fair Association since 1998, as well as President of the Oley Fair since 2003, Bieber’s connections to the industry have resulted in a great lineup of speakers for those invited to enjoy.

Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, Russell Redding, will address the crowd prior to the keynote speaker, Kevin Guldin, President of Oley Valley Feed Inc., Harleysville Feed, and The Mill in Germansville. Guldin will be offering insight into the industry and addressing any relevant questions attendees may have. Also in attendance will be Chloe Bomgardner, President of the State FFA Officer Team, and Ava Immel, the PA State Fair Queen, in addition to local government officials, like Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach.

“We felt hosting our event on the heels of National Ag Week and right before many in attendance start gearing up to start another busy farming season made sense,” explained Bieber. “As both a commercial lender and long-time supporter of Pennsylvania agriculture, I’ve seen firsthand how crucial community banks are in sustaining and growing our farming communities, and at Fleetwood Bank, we work to ensure that agriculture remains strong for future generations through community engagement, financial support, and events such as this.”

Agriculture is the backbone of Pennsylvania’s economy, especially in southeastern PA, which generates 82% of the state’s agricultural sales. “We are fortunate to live in a county ranked second in the nation for farmland protection with 831 farms covering 79,314 permanently preserved acres,” stated Bieber. “As the only bank headquartered in Berks, we consider it our privilege to host an evening to properly honor and recognize the efforts of so many of our local agricultural professionals.”
