The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is coming to an end for this year. The deadline to get checks is Sept. 30.
The FMNP is presented in partnership with the PA Department of Agriculture and the Berks County Area Agency on Aging each year starting in June.
Eligible participants must be 60 years of age or older and meet income guidelines. Participants will receive $50 in checks to be used at participating farmer’s market stands. Checks will be available at all Berks County Senior Centers and the Berks County Area Agency on Aging office.
Checks can be used to purchase only the fruits, vegetables, and herbs grown in Pennsylvania. Look for the white Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program sign at your favorite farm stand or check for participating markets at www.pafmnp.pa.gov. Checks will be distributed based on availability up to Sept. 30 but can be redeemed through Nov. 30.
Eligibility requirements must be met, and checks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Contact the Berks County Area Agency on Aging at 610-478-6500 for more information.
