Good Medicine Returning to Riverfront Park in Reading

From Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge

All are invited to attend the third annual Good Medicine Indigenous Wellness Celebration on Saturday, June 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Riverfront Park in Reading. Learn about Native American approaches to health and wellness, create art, engage with the river, and connect with local nonprofit and healthcare resources. The event will kick off with a cleanup of Riverfront Park from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Event participants will hear from various speakers on health and safety topics throughout the day. They will learn about the importance of the Schuylkill River and its impact on the community’s health. Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge will be offering Indigenous story times for children throughout the event.

Enjoy free food samples, check out some Indigenous cooking demos, take advantage of free blood pressure screenings, create art, learn some Native American social dances with Spirit Wing, and try some kayaking on the Schuylkill River.

Reading Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Coach will be at the Good Medicine Indigenous Wellness Celebration, offering screening mammograms to members of the community.

Reading Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Coach makes getting a mammogram easy, quick, and convenient! The Mobile Mammography Coach offers the same imaging professionals and state-of-the-art technology found at any Reading Hospital Imaging Center and brings it to locations where community members live, work, and play, reducing barriers and increasing access to care. Appointments take approximately 15-20 minutes from start to finish.

To schedule a screening mammography appointment, call 1-833-34-TOWER. Have your health insurance policy number and current physician information handy. Patients without insurance can contact Reading Hospital’s Patient Financial Counselors at 484-628-7400 for additional assistance.

This family-friendly event is free and open to all and will be held rain or shine. Bring a picnic blanket or some camping chairs to spend the day with the Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge at the park! More information can be found at www.widoktadwen.org.
