Hay Creek Festival brings taste of history to southern Berks

The 49th annual Hay Creek Festival concludes Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Joanna Furnace in Robeson Township. Parking is free, and an off-site lot offers free shuttle buses to the grounds. The event features almost 800 interpreters, craftsmen and volunteers working to re-create a day in the 19th century Joanna Furnace Ironworks community.

The exhibits and demonstrations include early American crafts, a contemporary craft market, living history presentations and interpretations, children’s activities, music, festive foods and more.

The admission fee is $10 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for 5 and younger.

The Hay Creek Valley Historical Association’s Joanna Furnace site is located 3 miles north of Morgantown on Route 10. For more information, visit www.haycreek.org.
