Hope Rescue Mission will host the Patriot 5K for Homeless Veterans on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Gring’s Mill Recreation Center, 2083 Tulpehocken Road, Reading. The event raises vital funds for homeless veteran services at Hope Rescue Mission, supporting programs that provide shelter, meals, job training, and pathways to stability for veterans facing homelessness.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the race kicks off at 9 a.m. Walkers are welcome, making this a family-friendly community event for participants of all ages and abilities.

The flat, fast, and wheel-measured course follows a scenic, shaded trail along the creek and features chip timing by Pretzel City Sports with instant results. The race will be held rain or shine.

“Our veterans have already served us all,” said Robert Turchi, CEO of Hope Rescue Mission. “Now it’s our turn to serve them — with compassion, dignity, and community. Together, we’re helping heroes find their way home.”

“We run not for fitness, but for purpose,” said Kate Alley, Executive Director of LightHouse Women & Children’s Center. “The Patriot 5K is a reflection of our community’s heart — running to honor those who have served, and to help veterans find hope, healing, and home again.”

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall, plus the top three in each age group: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, and 90+.

Race Management

The Patriot 5K is professionally chip timed by Pretzel City Sports.
