The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of January 2025. For all Parks and Rec programs requiring registration, go to countyofberks.recdesk.com/Community/Program.

Saturday, Jan. 4 | Winter Wellness Walk | 9 a.m. @ Heritage Center
Join the Berks County Parks & Recreation staff as they get out on the Union Canal Trail to enjoy an hour-long brisk walk with like-minded friends.
Free | Registration is suggested.

Saturday, Jan. 11 | Winter Outdoor Cooking Class | 11 a.m. @ Bingaman House
Join the Berks County Parks & Recreation staff for an amazing demonstration on cooking outdoors using a campfire while they learn how to make an assortment of homemade dishes.
Free | Registration is required.

Saturday, Jan. 11 | Owl Prowl | 6 p.m. @ Bingaman House
Enjoy a moonlit stroll on rustic Antietam Lake Park’s trails while learning about owls.
Free | Registration is required.

Tuesday, Jan. 14 | Trail Tales | 10 a.m. @ Heritage Center
Get wrapped up in a trail tale and discover plants and animal friends in the parks. Geared towards children ages 3-5.
Free | Registration is required.

Wednesday, Jan. 15 | Junk Journaling – Part 1 | 6 p.m. @ Heritage Center
Join the Berks County Parks & Recreation staff for this workshop series to learn the art of junk journaling. Junk journals can be made out of an assortment of different recycled or found materials.
Free | Registration is required.

Friday, Jan. 17 | Volunteer Invasive Removal | 3 p.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Come and join the Berks County Parks & Recreation staff’s efforts in helping the environment by removing and cutting back on invasive plant populations.
Free | It is open to the public.

Saturday, Jan. 25 | Tracks, Scat, and Animal Pelts | 9 a.m. @ Bingaman House
Join the Berks County Parks & Recreation staff as they observe the natural world and the animals within it by looking at the tracks and scat of local wildlife.
Free | Registration is required.

Sunday, Jan. 26 | Snowshoeing Pennsylvania Trails | 2 p.m. @ Bethel Appalachian Trail
Join BMECC and Berks Parks & Recreation Department in an out-and-back snowshoe adventure on the Appalachian Trail. Geared towards those with OR without snowshoe experience, BMECC member Adaiah Bauer and parks staff members will share tips, tricks, and equipment notes on snowshoeing on Pennsylvania trails during winter.
