Editor:
Thank you for publishing two comprehensive articles on the Wyomissing Stone House parking lot. Your Jan. 23 article on the proposal to destroy parkland to accommodate 12 parking spaces for cars prompted Mayor Fred Levering and borough council to reevaluate the parking lot size, as summarized in your Jan. 30 follow-up story.
Providing two appropriate spaces for people with disabilities is justifiable. Even though the decision was made to reduce the proposed 12 spaces to four, there are still two too many spaces. It is totally unnecessary and unjustifiable.
The borough needs to preserve every one of the park’s trees and prevent poisonous runoff of toxic substances from cars and the parking lot surface into Wyomissing Creek.
