Matches set for Berks bowling finals; Daniel Boone in position to sweep

The Daniel Boone bowlers have set themselves up at a shot at sweeping the BCIAA team championships after Wednesday’s semifinal matches at Berks Lanes.

The Blazer boys advanced to the finals with a 3,188-2,720 win over Hamburg in the semifinals, and the girls punched their ticket to the title match with a 2,560-2,518 win over Exeter.

In the other boys semifinal on Wednesday, Exeter downed Wilson 3,192-3,146 to set up the matchup with the Blazers.

In the other girls semifinal, Wilson defeated Gov. Mifflin 2,673-2,533.

The championship matches are at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Berks Lanes.

In Daniel Boone’s win over Hamburg, Blake Jeitles rolled an impressive series of 827 (279, 279, 269) and Johnny Hartline had a 692 series (238, 238, 216). Andrew Groller had a 587 series, Matt Serrano 550 and Declan Hamblen 532.

In Exeter’s win, Joe Vasquez led the way with a 676 series (216, 277, 183), Mason Basile had 651 (204, 202, 245) and Lucas Willaver 650 (243, 247, 160).  Ben Seeberger chipped in a 599, and the last score was split between John Richards, 178 first game, and Reed Wendler, 224 and 214 for the second and third games.

For the Daniel Boone girls, Emma Elgonitis led the way with a 643 series (226, 235,182), and Emma-Grace Balkaran rolled 539 (159, 199, 181) and Breanna Fitzcharles 536 (206, 159, 171). Caitlyn Dillon (449) and Meadow Fleckenstein (393) rounded out the scorers for the Blazers.

In Wilson’s girls win, Brielle Turner led the Bulldogs with a 604 series (203, 208, 193), Samantha Clay had a 585 (149, 238, 198), Lily Rutt a 533 series (171, 190, 172) and Zoey Fizz 523 (198, 155, 170). Two girls combined for the Bulldogs’ fifth score – Avery Mitchell, 278 for two games, and Kyleigh Seiders, 150 for the last game.
