Berks Community Television (BCTV) recently welcomed two new interns — Alexandra Barnes and Tony Mongeluzi — to its team for the summer. They will help with content creation for BCTV’s digital platforms, provide technical and control room support for studio programming in the Visions studio, and take on various roles in special projects and initiatives.
Meet The Interns
Alexandra Barnes is a rising sophomore at Penn State Main Campus, majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She serves as vice president of the school’s Turning Point USA chapter. She is also involved with the Centre Documenters program, which trains students to attend and document government meetings in Centre County.
“I chose BCTV for two reasons: the emphasis on community and the opportunity to have an in-studio experience,” Barnes stated. “This is not common for someone who just finished their first year of education, so I am grateful this was available to me.”
During her time at BCTV, Barnes is most eager to gain hands-on experience with using studio tech, including the Tri-Caster, cameras, and sound board. Moving forward, she plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism and ultimately create an independent television production company.
In her free time, Barnes enjoys reading, playing piano, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
Tony Mongeluzi is a recent Alvernia University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis on sports and a minor in art. During his time as a student, Mongeluzi worked in the university’s sports department, wrote for The Alvernian, the university’s student newspaper, and appeared in the Alvernia Campus Show on BCTV.
When asked why he pursued an internship with BCTV, Mongeluzi responded that there were several reasons: “The first is hands-on experience. I have had another internship before this at the Reading Fightin Phils, but with BCTV, I’m getting a whole new perspective in the video production field. Interning at BCTV will help me be even more well-rounded with my skills.” The other being his familiarity with the BCTV Offices and the Visions Studio through his involvement in the Alvernia Campus Show.
During his time at BCTV, Mongeluzi is most eager to gain workforce experience and creatively engage in his work. Moving forward, he plans to pursue a career in journalism, sports media production, and sports broadcasting.
In his free time, Mongeluzi enjoys taking pictures with his camera, collecting vinyl, hiking, and concertgoing with his friends.
Alexandra Barnes and Tony Mongeluzi, we look forward to watching you grow during your time at BCTV!
