State Representative Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz (D-Berks) announced that more than $1.3 million was awarded to organizations that bring safe and stable housing to residents across Berks County.

The following Berks County organizations were awarded a combined $1.3 million:

“I am proud to represent the diverse community of Greater Berks and all of District 129. This includes putting more money into our communities, and ensuring that our residents have access to safe, affordable housing,” said Cepeda-Freytiz.

“All people across our commonwealth deserve to have stability and access to a better quality of life. These grants will do just that, particularly for our low-income communities.”

The funding was awarded through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund. PHARE was established by Act 105 of 2010 (the “PHARE Act”) to provide the mechanism by which certain allocated state or federal funds, as well as funds from other outside sources, would be used to assist with the creation, rehabilitation, and support of affordable housing throughout Pennsylvania.
