Nine Berks girls tennis teams qualify for the District 3 doubles tournament

Nine Berks teams have qualified for the District 3 girls tennis doubles tournament, which begins Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

In Class 2A girls, Berks Catholic’s Sarah Schnatz and Isabella Logazzo are seeded second. Also making the field are Kutztown’s Kaydence Bohning and Madelyn Maley, Fleetwood’s Erin Sonon and Kelsie Toucher, Brandywine Heights’ Abby Davidheiser and Maci Rohrbach, Wyomissing’s Charlotte Reedy and Lily Chen, and Conrad Weiser’s Emily McGonigle and Reagan Wenrich.

In Class 3A, Reading High sisters Hailey and Hallie Guerrero are seeded fourth. Also qualifying are Exeter’s Hansika Kunduru and Myah Marturano, and Wilson’s Jin Lin Chen and Ella Zervanos.

In Class 2A first-round matches Friday at 11 a.m., Schnatz and Logozzo will face Annville-Cleona’s Laney Kreider and Ameila Summers.

Bohning and Maley will play top-seeded Monica Lopez and Delanie Edwards of Lancaster Country Day; Sonon and Toucher will meet Biglerville’s Paytyn Plank and Kiersten Englebert; Davidheiser and Rohrbach will face fourth-seeded Ella Knox and Baileigh Stetter of Delone Catholic; Reedy and Chen will will play Bishop McDevitt’s Kiarra Dyreyes-Wuite and Savannah Wheeler; and McGonigle and Wenrich will meet third-seeded Ava Sachs and Mia Schreader of Camp Hill.

In Class 3A first-round matches Friday at noon, Guerrero and Guerrero will face Palmyra’s Elaina Porter and Ava Cuzzolina; Kunduru and Marturano will take on Elizabethtown’s Dasha Gencturk and Julia Laszakovits; and Chen and Zervanos will play third-seeded Taryn Zerby and Ryma Saha of Mechanicsburg.

The quarterfinals in both classes are Friday.

The semifinals in both classes will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with the finals to follow at Hershey Racquet Club.
