Developers of a proposed solar farm in Orwigsburg are requesting a 90-day extension due to permit approvals and power company coordination.
At the March 12 borough council meeting, it was mentioned that the plan for the farm was conditionally approved in September. The applicant is still awaiting permits and upgrades from PPL.
The proposed solar farm is to be located off of Route 443 near the PPL building, set back from the road.
Wastewater treatment plant improvements continue with replacement of the generator room exhaust fan completed. Due to recent tariff increases, Process Masters Corp. has announced there will be a 4% increase on one of the copper removal treatment chemicals being used at the plant. If the tariffs are removed and the raw material supplier reduces their price, Process Masters will lower the price accordingly.
Utility Services Group has looked at portions of Lincoln Avenue and all of the Industrial Drive sanitary sewer mains. Defects were identified along with significant inflow and infiltration issues.
Entech has compiled a replacement cost estimate for new sewer work on Industrial Drive and rehabilitation lining to one section on Lincoln Avenue.
Plant software upgrades continue with the SCADA system up and running with initial reports being received. The upgrade project has been ongoing for about a year.
There will be a planning commission meeting on Wednesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in council chambers. The zoning hearing board meets April 2 at 6 p.m., and the next council meeting is set for April 9 at 7 p.m.
