As spring blossoms across Berks County, baseball fever is in full swing with the Reading Fightin Phils kicking off their 2025 season on Friday, April 4. This year marks a historic milestone, the 75th anniversary of FirstEnergy Stadium, affectionately known as “America’s Classic Ballpark.” To commemorate this diamond anniversary, the team has unveiled a series of significant upgrades and renovations aimed at enhancing both guest and player experiences.

The centerpiece of the stadium’s transformation is the newly inaugurated Redner’s Event Center, part of an extensive $45 million renovation — the largest in the ballpark’s history. This state-of-the-art facility offers over 14,000 square feet of event space, featuring a 6,500-square-foot main room with brick warehouse styling, wooden ceilings, and glass walls providing panoramic views of the field.

The Redner’s Event Center allows fans a field-side view atop the home run wall, offering a spectacular vantage point of the game. The veranda doors can open 180 degrees, allowing fans comfortability depending on weather. Inside guests will find a full-service bar, catering, and TVs to make sure you’re never missing out on the game.

Beyond game days, the center is available for private events such as weddings, corporate functions, and community gatherings.

FirstEnergy Stadium, which first opened its gates in 1951, has been a cornerstone of the Reading community for decades. To celebrate its 75th anniversary, the Fightin Phils have planned a season filled with special events and promotions.

“The Reading Phillies were a major part of my childhood. There were countless nights as a child, my family and I would come to the stadium to take in the games, enjoy the weather, or my favorite: the dip n’ dots. The community really cares about this team and ballparkm and it’s nice to see them updating it for people like my niece to be able to come here and make memories like I did as a child,” said Maggie Blatt, a Berks County resident and Muhlenberg High graduate.

Throughout the season, fans can look forward to a variety of promotional nights, including appearances by the Phillies Phanatic, bobblehead giveaways, and themed events celebrating the team’s popular history in Berks County. The full promotional schedule is available on the team’s website at rphils.com/promotions.

The Reading Fightin Phils have been more than just a baseball team, they are an integral part of the Berks County community. The recent renovations aim to solidify FirstEnergy Stadium’s status as a top destination for both sports and community events.

As the 2025 season unfolds, the Reading Fightin Phils invite fans old and new to experience the rejuvenated FirstEnergy Stadium. With a blend of historic charm and modern amenities, the ballpark is ready to host another 75 years of memories.
