Defending champ Zach Schrader of Reading High and Exeter’s Teddy Snyder will meet Monday for the Flight 1 singles title in the BCIAA boys tennis flight tournament following semifinal wins Saturday at Muhlenberg.
Schrader, a sophomore and the top seed in the Class 3A half of the draw, defeated Brandywine Heights’ Nate Burger, the No. 3 Class 2A seed, 6-0, 6-0 in one crossover semifinal. Snyder, a junior and the No. 2 Class 3A seed, beat Conrad Weiser’s Armaan Malik, the top Class 2A seed, 6-1, 6-1.
The finals in all singles flights are scheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at Muhlenberg.
The doubles finals will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Muhlenberg.
Schrader also advanced to the Flight 1 doubles final with teammate Joel Rodriguez. They will face Twin Valley brothers Jackson Bonds and Dylan Bonds in the championship match.
The Red Knights, seeded third in Class 3A, defeated Snyder and Exeter teammate Jake Tryanski 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 (7-3) to advance to the crossover semifinals. Sndyer and Tryanski were seeded third in Class 3A. Schrader and Rodriguez then beat Wyomissing’s Sawyer Helgeson and Peter Folga 6-1, 7-6 (9-7).
Bonds and Bonds, seeded first in Class 3A, beat Wilson’s Will Hill and Ben Winkler 6-3, 6-2 and Weiser’s Malik and Reed Kopcik 6-0, 6-2.
Helgeson and Folga were the top Class 2A seeds; Malik and Kopcik were seeded third.
In the other singles finals, Twin Valley’s Carson Kane will face Daniel Boone’s Evan Miller in Flight 2; Wyomissing’s Nate Renenger will meet Tryanski in Flight 3; Wilson’s Austin Kohler will take on Conrad Weiser’s Jio Garcia in Flight 4; and Kopcik will face Daniel Boone’s Owen Blume in Flight 5.
In Flight 2 doubles, Wilson’s Kohler and Jason Kaufmann will meet Twin Valley’s Kane and Charles Beebe.
