The Reading Rebels fell to the Albany Patroons 117-104 in a The Basketball League Northeast Division matchup Friday night at the Geigle.
The Patroons (10-2) scored early and often, and maintained the offensive pressure for all four quarters to take down the Rebels (5-6).
Rich McCalop, who won the TBL Slam Dunk competition during last weekend’s All-Star break, scored a team-high 19 points for Reading.
Reading High grad Trenity Burdine had 17 points and Berks Catholic grad Donovon Jack had a double-double with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds for Reading.
Kutztown University grad Anthony Lee had 12 points and was 2-of-4 on 3-pointers. Reading High grad Gil Benz also made two 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.
Albany outscored Reading 36-20 in the first quarter and closed out the final six minutes of the first on a 23-10 run.
The Rebels continued to struggle in the second as the Patroons outscored Reading 27-23.
McCalop led the Rebels with nine points at the half.
Reading started to gain some momentum in the second half, outscoring Albany 30-26 in the third quarter to trail 89-73 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Rebels failed to get within 10 points in the final quarter.
AJ Mosby scored a game-high 27 points for Albany.
Reading will return to action Saturday when it travels to New York to take on the Tri-State Admirals.
