Shoppers at the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing will have a chance to help out a worthy local cause and walk away with beautifully wrapped gifts this holiday season.
Volunteers with Safe Berks are operating a gift-wrapping table that is raising money for the organization so it can continue its mission to assist and support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Shoppers will be able to make donations in exchange for getting their gifts decked out in bright wrapping paper, ribbon and bows.
The Safe Berks table is located near the security desk. The annual effort will continue through Dec. 24.
“All donations help us continue to provide free services to local survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault,” Safe Berks CEO Beth Garrigan said. “While most of us enjoy the safety and happiness of our homes during the holidays, unfortunately, home is not a safe place for everyone. For victims of domestic violence, home can be the most dangerous place of all.”
Safe Berks services include shelter, a 24-hour hotline and text line, counseling, legal services, medical advocacy and education and outreach programs. The services are free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are available in English and Spanish and will be translated into any other language needed.
To contact the hotline dial 844-789-SAFE (7233) or text SAFE BERKS to 20121.
