Safe Berks Welcomes NYC Executive to Lead Development at the Organization

From Safe Berks

Safe Berks is proud to announce that, effective immediately, Dimitrios Aletras Jr. has been named Director of Development at Safe Berks at such a crucial time for the organization as they navigate celebrating their 50 years being a leader in the community while meeting the demands of the moment and the realities of the state budget impasse that ultimately affected their services. While they celebrate the passage of the state budget and the reopening of the federal government, their work is far from over.

Dimitrios Aletras Jr. is a native of Berks County, hailing from East Reading before heading off to New York City, where he led global strategies for organizations like Airbnb, MGM, W Hotels, and more in communications, marketing, and events. He brings his immense 20-year experience to the table as they move to the future with a bold, assertive, and creative approach to how and when they serve the community. His internal promotion comes on the heels of his leading as a Community Response Specialist, where he served as an advocate in the community, working with the three major medical facilities, the Children’s Alliance Center, Berks County Jail Systems, Kutztown University, Albright University, and Penn State University – Berks Campus. As an advocate on the ground, he brought his compassion and empathy to work, educating people within the systems and communities as well as providing direct service to those in crisis. He is excited to be shifting his role and to lead Safe Berks into its next chapter.

“As a survivor, standing tall as an advocate has meant the world to me, and being able to come home to the place where it all started for me and work with such a meaningful part of the community’s backbone like Safe Berks is, makes this even more of an honor. I am unequivocally dedicated to making sure we maximize the community’s awareness of our existence, our services, and the threat we face from the government in helping victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. It is my personal mission to make sure this organization leads the state as one that thinks boldly and fights for those we serve without compromise. I look forward to bringing my global experience to the local level and making changes to the organization to better serve our communities.”

Safe Berks provides services and support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their family members and significant others.
