Schuylkill Conservation District offering summer day camps

The Schuylkill Conservation District is holding a series of Wildlife Day Camps this summer.

“Our camps provide fun learning by doing and discovery nature experiences,” said “Porcupine Pat” McKinney of the conservation district. “We are fortunate to provide camps for a donation in whatever you would like to provide with thanks to the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.”

The first camp is one day only and will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church Grove in Erdman on Thursday, June 19, for children ages 4 to 10. Co-sponsored by the Zion Lutheran Church, the camp is open from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The next two camps will be held June 23 and 25 in the Clubhouse Pavilion at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park near Pine Grove. Thefirst will be for 4- to 6-year-olds and held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. A  camp for 7- to 9-year-olds runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The next camp will be located at Valley View Park and runs from July 21-23 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. This camp is for students leaving grades 1 to 4.

A camp will be offered on The Island in Schuylkill Haven Aug. 4-6 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. On the same dates, there is another camp atAlbright’s Woods from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The last two camps are presented in association with the Schuylkill Haven Recreation Department and Blue Mountain Recreation Commission to present these last two camps.
