Schuylkill Haven Halloween parade returns to traditional route

The Schuylkill Haven Halloween parade will be back on a familiar route this year. The Oct. 29 parade will be back on Main Street. The move comes after the parade was on a different route in 2022 and 2023 along roads like Avenue A, Union Street, St. John Street and Parkway. Not everyone liked that route, however, saying that the parade belonged back on Main Street, past the businesses, like it was years ago.

Borough officials agreed, and the parade is back on Main Street this year. The official starting point will be at the high school and Avenue C. It will then proceed down Main Street to Boyer’s Food Market and end at West Main Street and St. Charles Street.

The parade route was different the past two years primarily due to PennDOT permitting and bridge construction.

In other business, council approved fire police assistance for the upcoming Hamburg King Frost parade.

Town trick-or-treat will happen Halloween evening, Oct. 31.

Resident Dr. Jillian Mullen of Tennis Avenue requested an update on an issue she brought to council’s attentionregarding storm water control issues at her property and issues with surrounding properties. Borough code enforcement continues to look into those issues.
