Sixers’ Jared McCain ‘progressing well,’ done for the season

The Sixers announced late Thursday night that rookie guard Jared McCain will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for a left knee meniscus injury suffered on Dec. 13.

In a very brief press release, the club announced McCain is “progressing well” after the procedure, but will remain sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

The 16th overall pick in last summer’s draft, McCain had been a bright spot during the Sixers’ rough start to the season (15-20, 11th in the Eastern Conference). He earned Rookie of the Month honors in November and was an early frontrunner for Rookie of the Year.

In 23 games, McCain averaged 15.3 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 38.3% from beyond the arc.
