Southeastern Pa. under severe thunderstorm warning: high wind, hail possible

A line of severe thunderstorms moving across eastern Pennsylvania has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for the region Friday morning.

The warning includes Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties until 5 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials warn strong winds and hail are expected.

The storms come on a day when the weather service warned the region was at an increased risk of severe weather, with wind and hail being the primary threats. An isolated tornado was even possible, though mainly in the Delmarva area, well to our south.

The worst of the storm threat should subside by late Friday afternoon, though lingering storms are possible into the evening, according to the weather service.
