State police seeking ID of suspect in wallet theft at store in Berks

State police at Reading are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a theft of a wallet inside Rutter’s convenience store along Route 222 in Maxatawny Township.

The theft occurred about 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 16. A white man who appeared to be 50 to 65 years old is seen in security camera footage picking up the victim’s wallet from the area of the skills game machines inside the store.

He left with the wallet and got into a gray Kia Soul.

The man is further described as 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, 230 to 250 pounds, partially bald and sporting a gray goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at the Reading station at 610-378-4011.
