Stonecliffe Recreation Area Closed Through June

From County of Berks

Stonecliffe Recreation Area, which is part of the Tulpehocken Creek Valley Park System under the management of the Berks County Parks & Recreation Department, will be closed to the public until at least the end of June while the City of Reading makes sewer infrastructure improvements throughout the park. The construction work began in December 2024.

All parking lots and recreation areas, including the skate action park, rental facilities, fishing dock, pavilion, ball courts, soccer fields, and picnic areas are closed to the public for the duration of the construction. Please note that the section of the Union Canal Trail that passes through Stonecliffe Recreation Area is also closed to the public. At this time, there is no through traffic permitted on the Union Canal Trail at the Stonecliffe Recreation Area.

Notices of the closure will be posted at the perimeter and within the park. Trespassers will be subject to citation and possible fines.

The County of Berks looks forward to reopening the Stonecliffe Recreation Area to the public once the infrastructure improvements are completed. Other County of Berks parks, including Berks Leisure Area, Grings Mill, and Red Bridge Recreation Areas, each only a few miles up the Tulpehocken Creek, remain fully open for public use.
