Get ready to celebrate Oktoberfest at the nationally-rated Reading Liederkranz, running from Wednesday, Oct. 2, through Sunday, Oct. 6. This family-friendly festival, one of the largest in Berks County, invites everyone to experience the best of German music, food, drinks, and culture, right here in your own backyard.
The event, open to the public, will transport visitors to the Bavarian Alps with its authentic atmosphere and expansive grounds. Guests can indulge in a variety of mouth-watering German dishes, including slow-roasted half-chicken, schnitzel, goulash, pork dinners, and locally sourced bratwurst. Complete your meal with traditional sides like our famous German potato salad and freshly made apfelstrudel, baked throughout the festival.
Of course, no Oktoberfest would be complete without a hearty “Prost!” Raise a glass of Spaten Oktoberfest or enjoy a warm cup of homemade German glühwein from our wine bar. The festival will feature a wide selection of imported German beers and wines available at multiple locations.
In addition to food and drink, guests can browse various vendors offering German-themed items and gifts. For entertainment, don’t miss nightly performances by top musical acts, including the Grammy-nominated Alex Meixner Band, Dave Kline and the Mountain Folk Oktoberfest Band, and first-time performers Igor and the Red Elvises. Saturday’s highlights include a parade and ceremonial barrel-tapping, plus performances from the Reading Liederkranz Singers and the G.T.V. Edelweiss Schuhplattlers.
The Oktoberfest is a rain-or-shine event, with admission prices varying by night for attendees 21 and older. Ages 20 and under, get in free!
