Third winner of Reading’s My Super Neighbor competition announced

The city, Mayor Eddie Moran and Keep Reading Beautiful have announced the third winner in the My Super Neighbor competition.

The yearlong initiative aims to recognize outstanding home maintenance and promote community spirit with the goal of strengthening residents’ sense of belonging and appreciation.

Charlotte Zabinski, a resident of the 1100 block of Amity Street, was selected from a pool of nominees through a raffle-style drawing.

A retired Reading School District teacher, Zabinski was nominated by a neighbor for her well-maintained home and gardens.

Zabinski’s dedication to her property and the inspiration she provides to friends and neighbors exemplify the values this competition seeks to celebrate, the city said in a release.

Residents are encouraged to keep the spirit of the competition alive by maintaining their properties and public spaces, and by continuing to nominate their neighbors throughout the rest of 2024.

Monthly prize drawings will be held through the end of the year.

The competition will culminate in January with a grand prize drawing for a summer 2025 block party.
