Berks County 4-H had three 4-H members attend the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, GA, recently. They were among the 29 members of the Pennsylvania Delegation who attended the conference. National 4-H Congress was a five-day event focusing on various activities and workshops focused on leadership, team building, diversity, and community service.
Berks County 4-H members who attended the conference were Kiyarah Feliciano, Shane Martin, and Leah Walters. Kiyarah, known as Kiki, is a 4-H Camp Counselor and Teen Leader for summer 4-H programs. Kiki now serves as a 4-H representative to the Berks County 4-H Program Development Committee. Kiki said, “Congress is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and receive the chance to meet plenty of new people from all over the country as well as partake in new activities you may have never experienced before.”
Shane just graduated from the 4-H program. While in 4-H, he was involved in the Berks County 4-H Livestock Club, raising and showing goats and beef. Shane was also a member of the Berks County 4-H Program Development Committee. Shane shared that he really enjoyed his trip to the National 4-H Congress, and he grew personally in his leadership skills, talents, and abilities.
Leah is a current 4-H member of the Berks County 4-H Livestock Club, where she raises and shows breeding and market goats. She also took on a beef project in 2024. Leah is also a member of the Berks County 4-H Livestock Judging Team. “Engaging in the many different workshops provided me with the networking skills as well as learning new ideas to bring back home to my 4-H club” is what Leah said about her participation in National 4-H Congress.
