Tickets for the 40th season of Fall Foliage passenger excursions on the Reading & Northern Railroad are on sale at www.rbmnrr-passenger.com or by calling 610-562-2102.
Five weekends of excursions to Jim Thorpe originating from Reading, Pittston and Pottsville will be offered Oct. 5 through Nov. 3.
Reading Outer Station on Route 61 in Muhlenberg Township will host its eighth Fall Foliage season in 2024. Trains departing from this location will feature the vintage F-Unit diesel locomotives from the 1950s; or, on Oct 5, 19 and 26, steam locomotive #2102, which was built by the Reading Shops in 1945 and restored to operation in 2022. These excursions will stop at Port Clinton on their way to Jim Thorpe. All trains from Reading depart at 9 a.m. sharp.
Trains at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Regional Railroad Station in Pittstown will depart at 8:45 a.m. A stop will be made at Penobscot (Mountain Top).
Pottsville Union Station, 1 Progress St., will feature Fall Foliage trips using self-propelled rail diesel cars. Stops will be available at Schuylkill Haven and Port Clinton. Trains depart Pottsville at 8:30 a.m.
The 45-minute Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway trains will be departing from Jim Thorpe Station every hour on Fall Foliage weekends beginning at 10 a.m., with the last departure at 5 p.m. Tickets for these excursions must be purchased the same day, in-person, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The railroad is based in Port Clinton.
