Hamburg junior Kyla Rogers has the best mark in the state in girls high jump, according to rankings on penntrackxc.com.
Rogers cleared 5-8 in a dual meet on April 3 against Tulpehocken and is one inch ahead of Souderton’s Destini Smith who cleared 5-7 in the Jim Kelly Invitational on April 17.
Rogers is one of 18 Berks athletes who are ranked in the top 20 in the state in their events, including three athletes ranked in the top five.
As the weather turns warmer and the big meets, such as the Penn Relays this weekend in Philadelphia, take place, the list is sure to change, but as of April 22 here is where Berks the 17 other athletes stand in the state.
Girls
• Maddie Henne, fourth in the discus. The Wilson junior threw 130-2 at the the Coatesville Track and Field Invitational on April 12.
• Alexis Hardy, seventh in the 100-meter dash. The Wyomissing senior ran 12.02 at the Twin Valley Raider Invitational on April 17.
• Grace Glass, seventh in the discus. The Daniel Boone junior threw 127-10 in a quad meet at Fleetwood on April 14.
• Cara Miller, eighth in the pole vault. The Exeter sophomore cleared 12-0 in a dual meet against Manheim Township on March 19.
• Clara Engel, 11th in the long jump. The Kutztown junior jumped 18-3½ at theOxenreider Streamline Classic on April 4. She is also ranked 17th in the triple, leaping 37-6½ in a triangular meet on April 8 at Wyomissing.
• Hailey Kilgore, 14th in the 300-meter hurdles. The Twin Valley junior ran 45.10 at the Twin Valley Raider Invitational on April 17.
• Alivia Noecker, 15th in the shot put. The Wilson freshman threw 38-7 at the Coatesville Track and Field Invitational on April 12.
• Sophie Toucher, 17th in the long jump. The Fleetwood sophomore jumped 18-1¾ at the Twin Valley Raider Invitational on April 17.
• Corinne Logan, 18th in the triple jump. The Twin Valley sophomore jumped 37-6 at the Twin Valley Raider Invitational on April 17.
Boys
• Logan Wegman, fifth in the shot put. The Exeter senior threw 57-4¼ at the Jeff Bradley Track & Field Invitational on April 12. He is also ranked 12th in the discus, throwing 159-6 at the Bradley meet.
• Xavier Beatty, fifth in the long jump. The Reading High senior jumped 23-4 at theOxenreider Streamline Classic on April 4.
• Frankie DiSilvestro, 12th in the 1600-meter run. The Twin Valley senior ran 4:17.03 at the the North Penn Open on March 29.
• Vincent Acinapura, 17th in the 200-meter dash. The Twin Valley senior ran 21.79 in the Twin Valley Raider Invitational on April 17. Acinapura is also ranked 20th in the 400, running 49.57 at the Council Rock Kiwanis Invitational on April 5.
• David Giles, 17th in the 3200. The Wyomissing senior ran 9:22.41 at thePlymouth Whitemarsh Elite Invitational on April 5. He is also ranked 19th in the 1600, running 4:18.93 at the Twin Valley Raider Invitational.
• Tristan Shayo, 17th in the 300 hurdles. The Gov. Mifflin senior ran 39.29 at the the Jeff Bradley Track & Field Invitational on April 12.
• Ben Grundy, 18th in the 400. The Twin Valley junior ran 49.40 at the North Penn Open on March 29.
• John Kowalski, 20th in the 200. The Schuylkill Valley senior ran 21.87 in a dual meet against Daniel Boone on April 1.
