Tri-Valley Lions Club member honored

Janice Dietz of the Tri-Valley Lions Club was presented the Melvin Jones Fellowship by District Governor Matthew Uroskie and Immediate Past District Governor Lisa Léon in August.

A member of the club since June 2003, she serves as Club Global Service Team Chairperson and held the position of club president and Marketing Chairperson. She served as club secretary for five years. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is the backbone of Lions Club International Foundation, providing 70% of its revenue.

A recognition of humanitarian work, a fellowship is awarded to those who donate $1,000 to LCIF or to people for whom a donation was made by others. It is the foundation’s highest honor.

Block party

The Valley View/Tri-Valley Lions Club sold fresh-cut french fries in an Aug. 19 block party in Hegins. It is a new event expected to be held annually.

Annual picnic

The Valley View/Tri-Valley Lions Club held its annual multi-club picnic on Aug. 21.  There were 32 Lions present from the Mahoning Valley, Pine Grove, Wayne Township, West Penn and Tri-Valley clubs. The evening of fellowship including a meal of grilled pork chops, baked potatoes, fresh sweet corn, salad, and desserts.
