Tulpehocken falls to York Catholic in District 3 Class 3A boys basketball semifinal

Luke Forjan scored 11 of his game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter to help York Catholic defeat Tulpehocken 61-58 in a District 3 Class 3A semifinal Thursday at York.

The third-seeded Trojans (18-6) will host fifth-seeded Lancaster Catholic in the third-place game for the district’s final Class 3A berth in the PIAA Tournament on Monday at 7 p.m.

The Crusaders lost 43-41 to top-seeded Columbia in the other semifinal.

David Bednarczyk led Tulpehocken with 16 points. Nolan Sweitzer had 15, Bradyn Herb 11 and Aiden Miller 10.

The Trojans led the second-seeded Fighting Irish (17-7) by two at 11-9 after a quarter, but trailed 24-23 at the half and 38-37 after three quarters.

Class 5A

Palmyra 67, Fleetwood 46: At Palmyra, the fifth-seeded Cougars outscored the 13th-seeded Tigers by 15 in the second quarter to take control on the victory in a District 3 Class 5A consolation game.

Palmyra (18-6) held Fleetwood (16-8) to just two field goals and eight points in the second quarter to expand a 15-8 lead into a 38-16 advantage at the half.

Jake Karnish scored 13 points to lead Fleetwood in the season-ending loss. Nate Herb had 12 and Aiden Gorman 10.

Christopher Edwards scored 11 of his game-high 15 points for Palmyra in the second quarter.
