Two Berks County products sign with Kutztown University football team

Wyomissing’s J.J. Jackson and Daniel Boone’s Nathan Millard signed letters of intent with the Kutztown University football team Wednesday on National Signing Day.

The Golden Bears signed 18 players, including Jackson, a defensive lineman, and Millard, a punter and kicker

Kutztown’s recruiting class includes 11 offensive players, six defensive players and Millard, the lone specialist. Four signees are offensive linemen, the most of any position group in the class.

As a senior, Jackson made 41 tackles, including one for loss, and a fumble recovery for the Spartans, who made their second consecutive appearance in the PIAA Class 3A championship game. He helped lead a Wyomissing defense that allowed just 8.4 points per game in 2021, 12th-fewest in the PIAA.

Millard was named to the All-Berks first team as a punter and to the second team as a kicker. He also was voted to the All-Berks Football League first team as a kicker and a punter; to the Pa. Football News Class 5A All-State first team; and to the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 5A All-State Team as a specialist.

Wide receiver Jake Cook, the lone transfer in the class, will join the Golden Bears after spending the last two years at Saint Anselm, a NCAA Division II school in New Hampshire.
