The United States opened play in the Olympic women’s field hockey tournament today with a 4-1 loss against Argentina.
For the U.S., Ashley Sessa scored the lone goal with 12:33 remaining in the third quarter. Argentina led 2-0 at halftime and 3-1 after the third quarter.
The U.S. field hockey team members from Berks County are Ashley Hoffman (Twin Valley), Kelee Lepage (Twin Valley), Phia Gladieux (Oley Valley), Karlee Kisha (Hamburg) and Meredith Sholder, who played at Emmaus but hails from Berks County.
The U.S.’s next game is Monday against Spain at 7 a.m. and will be shown on USA network and streamed on Peacock.
